Acceptance conditions
Teaching of German Language and Literature
German language proficiency at the B1 level or higher according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is a prerequisite for studying Teaching of German Language and Literature in every programme combination.
Applicants will be accepted on the basis of their scores on a general academic prerequisites test, part of the National Comparative Exams administered by the company Scio, in place of an entrance exam. Results from a previous Scio test no older than three years will also be accepted.
Applicants who present a certificate obtained by completing at least one of the following examinations will earn the maximum score in the admission proceedings (without being required to take the Scio test):
• Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom
• TestDaF
• Goethe-Zertifikat, level B1 or higher
• ÖSD, level B1 or higher
• German language diploma DSD I PRO, level B1 or higher
• secondary-school-leaving examination on the German language, level B1 or higher
• a certificate of completion of secondary-school studies from a German bilingual section of a gymnasium
If the number of applicants does not exceed the planned number of accepted students, the requirement to take the entrance exam will be waived.
Teaching of French Language and Literature
No entrance examination. French language proficiency at the A2 level or higher according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is a prerequisite for studying Teaching of French Language and Literature in every programme combination.
Applicants must demonstrate their level of French language proficiency by presenting at least one of the following documents:
‒ an internationally recognized DELF or DALF French language diploma
‒ secondary-school-leaving examination in the French language – level B1
‒ a certificate of completion from a French bilingual section of a gymnasium
‒ a French language proficiency certificate from a public or private language school in Slovakia or from a foreign institution that is authorized to issue French language proficiency certificates
Information for foreign students
Basic admission requirements for foreign applicants to bachelor’s programmes:
‒ successful passing of the entrance examination
‒ Slovak language proficiency at the required level (at least B2 or C1) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (this does not apply to applicants to the programme Slovak for the Linguistic and Cultural Competence of International Students)
‒ confirmation of acceptance of the applicant’s certificate of education completed abroad at the required level of education (with the exception of certificates from the Czech Republic, for which a confirmation is not needed)
The application must include:
- a certificate of proficiency in Slovak as a foreign/second language at the required level (at least B2 or C1 depending on the study programme criteria) issued by a language school included in the network of schools and educational institutions of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (registered public language schools and private language schools) – required for all foreign applicants to bachelor’s programmes (except for applicants to the programme Slovak for the Linguistic and Cultural Competence of International Students).
