    UMB CAREER CENTRE

    „Career is a path, run it with us"

     

    Career centre at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica is a workplace with the whole university sphere of action, which functions as an organisational part of the office for lifelong learning at UMB. It was established in 2008 under the project called Introduction of a career counselling development system co-financed by the European Union. It is directly managed by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Lifelong Learning at UMB.

     

    The activities of the UMB Career centre include the possibility to use the services of career counselling (individual and group guidance), to participate in workshops and trainings focused on career management or to try out the course of the assessment centre. One of the goals of the centre is also to mediate contact between students and potential employers in the form of job fairs, professional lectures, workshops and excursions. The UMB Career centre regularly informs about current job positions, offered traineeships and internship through its website and social networks. For the public it creates a space for further education through a wide range of hobby education courses, teambuilding and tailor-made courses.

    VISION

    UMB Career centre has the ambition to be perceived as a modern and dynamic organisation, which, based on its offer of a quality service and professional attitude, shall be respected not only in Slovakia, but also abroad and shell become the sought-after partner for further cooperation. Through the realisation of its activities bound to current request of the labour market, the society and the development trends, it wants to support the ability of the UMB graduate students to enter the labour market and in such way to spread the good name of the university. It is aware of the irreplaceable role of career counseling in the process of lifelong learning of an individual, and therefore wants to support the motivation of education and personal growth not only among students and graduates of UMB, but also with the public.

    MISSION

    The mission of the UMB Career centre is to promote the contact of its students with the employers, to support them in their process on the lookout for a job and to offer activities which will contribute to the growth in their personalities and career progress. It creates the conditions for the widening of the cooperation with practice in order to enable acquiring practical experience of the students as early as during their studies. It initiates the interest of the students to supplement their theoretical information and their competencies and skills necessary for the easier employment on the labour market. Through its offer of courses of various specialisation, it follows up on the whole society trend of support for further education.
