Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica implements a 10-month Educational programme of language and professional preparation for university studies in Slovak language in full-time form with a weekly hourly subsidy of at least 30 academic hours, designed for foreign applicants for study in the following scope:
- WINTER SEMESTER - GENERAL LANGUAGE TRAINING
- SUMMER SEMESTER - LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR THE REQUIRED DISCIPLINES (medical‑biological disciplines, technical disciplines, natural science disciplines, economic disciplines, humanities, law). This programme is not a part of university studies.
- GRADUATE PROFILE
The graduate of the 10-month course will achieve a level of linguistic communicative competence in Slovak as a foreign language, which is classified within the B2 level scale according to the SERR (Common European Framework of Reference). As an active user of the language, the graduate will be able to cope with most situations that may arise when travelling,engage in conversation on topics that he/she knows, is interested in or that relate to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies,work, travel and current events). Can participate in conversation fluently and spontaneously, with clear pronunciation. Can actively engage in discussions on familiar - and specialist - topics, explaining and defending their views. Can explain his/her position on current issues and state the advantages and disadvantages of different solutions. In his/her chosen field of study, he/she understands test assignments, a selection of key technical terms, technical texts and simple explanations that do not go beyond the scope of the secondary school curriculum (or the requirements for the final examination in the subject). Can answer questions, explain concepts, procedures, processes in a concise and simple manner. The student acquires the basic skills of simple presentation in Slovak. The graduate of the course is oriented in the university system of the Slovak Republic, knows the rules and conditions of study. He/she has basic information about the culture and rules of social interaction in society, knows Slovak traditions,holidays and customs. Through his/her participation in extra-curricular inclusive activities, he/she integrates into society and university life.
- HOW TO APPLY
The Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, in addition to providing the entire process of teaching Slovak (including professional preparation), will provide comprehensive assistance to participants in applying to universities, including the provision of educational materials. Upon proper completion of the training programme, the graduate will be issued with a certificate of completion of the course according to the CEFR.
