From Classrooms to the Heart of Nature
As the academic year drew to a close and the days grew sunnier and longer, it was the perfect moment to celebrate both achievement and togetherness. Following the successful completion of B2-level written exams, our students and lecturers at the Institute of Language and Academic Preparation at UMB set off to experience the stunning natural beauty of northern Slovakia — this time exploring the enchanting Jánošíkové diery.
Our adventure began in the picturesque village of Štefanová, where we embarked on a guided hike along the Diery educational trail. We journeyed through Dolné diery and Nové diery, eventually arriving at the scenic tourist crossroads Podžiar. There, we took time to rest, recharge, and soak in the serene atmosphere. Along the way, we were captivated by the dramatic gorges and canyons carved by the Dierový potok, and refreshed by the cool forest air — a perfect escape from the classroom.
To make the most of the beautiful weather and celebrate the spirit of community, we also organized a special event: a barbecue and interactive workshop held in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This informal gathering gave students a chance to relax, enjoy delicious food, play games, and connect with one another — just in time to ease the nerves before their oral exams.
We are proud to offer not only a high-quality language and vocational education but also opportunities for cultural enrichment and personal growth. We hope our students leave with more than just academic knowledge — taking with them unforgettable memories, strong friendships, and a deep appreciation for Slovakia’s natural treasures.
