    UMB and UKF Consortium

Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica and Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra responded very actively in 2023 to the call of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic to submit projects for the creation of university consortia, which the ministry declared to be one of the key steps in strengthening cooperation and excellence in education and science. The call guaranteed that universities would be able to use the money to modernize and build integrated research, educational, and accommodation infrastructure, for example, by constructing new buildings, purchasing buildings and land, or renovating outdoor areas. Six other universities joined UMB and UKF in the call, which were successful and are working on creating four university consortia, which must be established by 2026.

The aim of project no. 08I01-20-V05-00002, "Strategic Development of the Infrastructure of the UMB and UKF Consortium," is to create joint study programs within the consortium and thus harmonize and integrate internal quality assurance systems, information and library systems, share the offer of university courses, educational courses, scientific, popularization and support activities, and interconnect support and counseling services. By renovating and modifying student dormitories, faculty buildings, libraries, and other university facilities, the consortium will contribute to closer cooperation between universities, the concentration of excellent research and doctoral studies, and thus fulfill the objectives of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
