    Admission requirements for Doctoral programmes
    All doctoral study programmes of the Economics Faculty of MBU have the same admission requirements.
    The basic requirement is to have completed a Master´s programme and another requirement set by the Faculty is to pass the entrance exam.
    Before the admission process starts, the Faculty announces the topics of dissertation theses the candidates can choose from, each with an allocated supervisor. The candidate must choose one of the topics.

    Admission – General information
    The admission procedure provides an opportunity for candidates to prove that they meet certain admission requirements for study in order to become a student of a chosen study programme at the Faculty.
    The admission procedure begins after the candidate delivers his / her written application for study to the Faculty.
    Candidates file the application
    - in electronic form (information about the electronic admission and required enclosures will be published on the Faculty´s website);
    - or in paper form (current application form for universities can be downloaded from the Ministry of Education webpage).
    EF UMB prefers applications in electronic form.
    Candidates may only submit one application at one level of study and to one study programme.
    The application must be sent to the Faculty by these deadlines – for the first and second level degree programmes, the deadline for the 3rd level degree programmes is 27th May 2022.
    Students who have completed the previous degree abroad must have the diploma recognised in the Slovak Republic. The admitted students shall submit the document recognising the diploma no later than the day of enrolment.

    Full-time study applicant
    • structured Curriculum Vitae (signed by the applicant),
    • copy of payment receipt proving the fee for application was payed
    • Notarized copies of documents of the previous education (diploma, certificate of state final exam) – graduates from Matej Bel University need not submit notarized copies
    • Graduates from foreign universities (apart from Czech Republic) shall submit a copy of recognition of completed education from the Ministry of Ecucation of the SR (Act no. 422/2015 Coll. The procedure and application form are available at

    • Academic transcript for the whole previous Master study, including the average result for the whole study (the part „Výpis výsledkov“/Academic transcript in the application form is thus not applicable)
    • List of published and non-published papers, reviews of these papers if possible (Bachelor or Diploma work is not applicable)
    • two written recommendations for doctoral study by recognized scientists and educators (Associate Professor, Professor or Doctor – PhD / CSc)
    • written project in the scope of 3 pages to outline the topic of dissertation, in 5 copies, signed by the supervisor who put up the topic)

    Part-time study applicant / external form

    Topics of dissertations
    Topics of dissertations are approved by particular subject area boards for the following academic year in March of the current year. Afterwards (usually in April), they are announced on the website of the Faculty. After the candidate chooses a topic, he/she should contact the supervisor and prepare a project to outline the topic, where he/she gives reasons for the choice, formulates the aim, methods and expected outcomes.

    Note: One topic can be researched only by one applicant.

    The entrance exam for the academic year 2022/2023 will take place on 29. - 30 June 2022.
