    Graduates of Doctoral Study
    The doctoral graduate in study programme Commercial and Financial Law is able to work independently based on the acquired theoretical knowledge and knowledge of application practice. He or she is able to identify problematic issues in the field of commercial law and financial law, as well as the problematic issues of interdisciplinary nature while considering the practical and theoretical aspects of these problematic issues. The graduate is capable of analyzing these problems and forming scientifically justified proposals and alternative solutions for practice, as well as helping the development of commercial law and financial law as the scientific disciplines at national, European and international level. The graduate works while respecting the constitutional, ethical and human principles of society. Also, he/she is able to lead a team of experts in commercial law and financial law at a scientific level, as well as a team comprised of the experts on related legal disciplines, including also the foreign experts. The teams cooperate in solving problems related to the diversity and the state of commercial law and financial law at the national and transnational level through the projects of relevant ministries, as well as working on the grant management tasks. The graduate's capability to work conceptually on development of relevant legislation is based on the knowledge gained by his/her doctoral studies and by studying of the professional literature from commercial law, financial law and related legal fields, international legal documents, EU law, decisions of the ECHR, decisions of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic. At the same time, the graduate is able to use also the knowledge of application practice and the knowledge of the methodology of scientific research methods.

    Acceptance conditions

    The basic requirement for admission to the doctoral study in as both the full-time and part-time study is the successful completion of the Master's Degree Study Programme Law, field of study Law. The entrance examinationis conductedby the Examining Committee appointed by the Dean.

    The entrance examination will be held orally. The applicant must demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills of the field of study Law,as well as the content, methods and anticipated results of dissertation.Examination Commission will be ascertaining the applicant'si nterest in field of study,interest in science and will take into account the academic performance of the Master´s Degree Study. The Dean shall decide on the applicants´ admission on the recommendation ofthe Chairmanof the Examination Committee.

    For admission to doctoral studies , both full-time and part-time study form, the following aspects are also taken into account:

    - The weightedaverage of the Master's Degree Study; Graduate of Master's Degree Study from another Faculty of Law, is obliged to submit, as an attachment to the application, transcript of the Master's Degree Study,

    - The outcome ofthe interviewbefore the Examining Board.

    The admission procedure for each degree begins with the acceptance of the application form by the faculty; the fee is non-refundable.

    Due to the automated processing of fees in the information system, we only accept non-cash payments.

    A copy of the proof of payment of the fee for the admission procedure (account statement, internet banking statement) must be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form.

    Payment of the fee for admission procedure must be paid by applicant for study, or by another person authorized by him/ her through bank transfer no later than the last day, when it is possible to apply for study. An application for study without payment of fee admission in the specified amount will not be accepted.

    If the applicant submits an electronic application, he / she must send to the faculty also a paper application form, duly completed, signed and with all required attachments.

    The faculty does not confirm the acceptance of the application form.

    The Faculty of Law, Matej Bel University does not require medical certificate attesting fitness for higher education; an application will be accepted without medical certificate.

    On the third page of the application form a handwritten signature of the applicant must be given. The applicant by its signature gives consent to the processing of personal data that are useful for the assessment of the admission procedure. The application shall not be accepted without paying a fee for the admission examination. Please enclose proof of payment of the bank transfer payment to the application form (a payment order is not a proof of payment!).

    In one form of the "Application form for higher education study" only one type of study is given. In case of interest in both types of study two applications must be submitted, i.e., one for the Full-Time and one for the Part-Time Study and to pay twice the fee for admission procedure.

    Part of the application for DOCTORAL STUDY (3rd level – PhD.) is also:
    a) CV,
    b) certified photocopies of evidence of Master’s Degree Study (university diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement, if necessary, language diplomas),
    c) study results average gained in Master's Degree Study,
    d) a list of so far published (e.g., books, articles, manuals, etc.) and unpublished technical and scientific works (or expertise of these works and other documents, e.g., diplomas of “ŠVOČ” conferences, documentation of completed professional courses and the like) ,
    e) the framework project for the dissertation topic in the range of about 5 pages (dissertation topics are published on the website of the Faculty of Law in the section "Doctoral Studies".)
    f) the fee payment slip.

    Every study applicant (relevant for all levels of study) who fails to prove meeting of the basic requirements for admission to study at the time of verification of the fulfilment of the requirements for admission may be conditionally accepted to study provided that he/she must prove the fulfilment of the requirements for admission no later than on the date for enrolment in the study.

    Number of applicants accepted will be in accordance with the approved plan of the number of applicants accepted to AY 2024/2025.
