The Accreditation Commission agreed on April 2. – 4. by resolution N. 76.9.1 on the pilot project called “Identification of the excellence scientific teams at the universities in the Slovak Republic”. On the basis of this call, the universities submitted 77 proposals. The evaluation process of the proposals for the scientific teams at the universities in the Slovak Republic started on 16 October 2014. The standing working groups of the Accreditation Commission expressed themselves to which part of the research the proposed teams belonged to. The working groups assessed all the necessary particulars set out in the proposals according to the criteria (available on the internet site www.akredkom.sk/index.pl?tmpl=spickove_timy ). According to them, the Accreditation Commission approved the proposals and asked the foreign experts for their opinion. As a result, 37 excellent scientific teams from the universities were accepted.

In the pilot project “Identification of the excellence of the scientific teams at the universities in the Slovak Republic” the Accreditation Commission accepted approximately half of the proposals from the universities. The commission stated, that the accepted teams were publishing the pieces of work, quoted more than 500 times, several even 1000 times. This kind of works can influence the science of the world. Teams also presented many great technical works, patents, diagnostic and treatment procedures, etc. The fact is, that in Slovakia  we have excellent teams even in the international context and that they also provide education  at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Matej Bel University, is  evidence of our high-quality studies for current students and also for those interested in studying.

It is positive, that the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Matej Bel University, Banská Bystrica ranked among the best university departments, which have the  scientific team of excellence “Group and semigroup operations in discrete mathematics and dynamical systems” in research N.24.
