The Expression of the Support and Solidarity for Belarusian State University

Highly attentive to the latest developments in the Belarusian society, Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, would like to express its profound concern about the potential impact these developments may bring in the life of academic communities in Belarus.

We have established a long-term and stable cooperation with Belarusian State University in Minsk, as one of our strategic academic partners, on the base of Academic Cooperation Agreement and Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreement between both universities.

Our institutions constantly develope cooperation in many fields of academic life – inter-institutional exchanges of academic staff, students, joint publications, participation in conferences, seminars, educational and mobility projects.

We express the full support and solidarity with the colleagues and students of Belarusian State University in these hard times.

At the same time, we are actively involved in the intergovernmental scholarship program for Belarus students initiated by The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.

We believe the situation in Belarus will be getting better very soon to allow us to open a new horizon for further developing of our good relations in the principles of academic freedom and democracy.
