MGIMO Receives Rector of Matej Bel University (Slovakia)

June 21st, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov met with Vladimir Hiadlovsky, Rector of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.

The sides mulled over the prospects for collaboration between the two universities and the opportunity to implement student exchanges and practical training programs for undergraduates majoring in International Relations and specializing in Central and Eastern Europe. They also considered setting up joint academic projects in the fields of Finance, Economics, Political Science and International Relations.

Matej Bel University was established in 1992 as a result of the merger of the College of Economics of Services and Tourism in Banská Bystrica and the Pedagogical Faculty in Banská Bystrica.

To date, MGIMO has one active cooperation agreement with a Slovak university: the Economic University in Bratislava. MGIMO regularly invites professors from Slovakia in the framework of the «Visiting Scholars» program, implemented with the support of MGIMO’s Endowment Fund, and welcomes on a yearly basis Slovakian undergraduate and graduate exchange students.
