    MBU delegation at Belarussian State University

    The Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica delegation led by the rector, doc. Ing. Vladimír Hiadlovský, PhD. visited the Belarusian State University in Minsk on the 19th of February, 2018. At the official admission by the rector, Professor Andrei D. Karol, the participants discussed their over 10 years of cooperation in the field of humanities and social sciences and the possibilities of its extension towards natural sciences.

    The following perspective areas of cooperation have been identified:

    • Event Management,
    • Environmental Chemistry,
    • Applied Geology,
    • History (especially the history of Belarus lectured at MBU and, reciprocally, the history of Slovakia lectured at BSU; history of mutual relations).

    Both parties are interested in strengthening short- and long-term mobilities with the aim of increasing reciprocity.

    Rectors from partner universities have delegated the task of setting up an organizational framework to expand the cooperation to the vice-rectors for international cooperation in collaboration with the deans of faculties.

    The MBU delegation visit to the Belarusian National University in Minsk has also created some prerequisites for their further activities:

    • Development of relations and deepening of cooperation between MBU and BSU;
    • Exchange of experience in education, international research projects and activities, organizational support for internationalization;
    • Impulse for preparation of reciprocal visit of BSU Rector to MBU;
    • Organizational preparation for the performance of the folk ensemble Mladosť in Grodne (June 2018).

    The Belarusian State University is a leading scientific, educational, innovation and cultural centre of the Republic of Belarus. Belarusian State University (BSU) Minsk, Belarus, was founded on October 30, 1921. It exercises its' potential which is based on the best domestic and international experience in order to comply with intellectual, cultural and social demands and interests of the individual, society and state and to facilitate the sustainable development of the country. The University Strategy is based on creative cooperation of academic staff and students and aimed at

    • forming an auspicious conditions for development of intellectual and creative potential of individual;
    • cherishing and upholding the best traditions of university classic education;
    • securing a fitting place in the world educational area.

    The entire complex of the Belarusian State University includes 16 faculties and 6 educational institutes, 10 educational establishments, 10 research and development institutes and centers, 41 research and developments laboratories, 10 innovation and production enterprises. The entire complex of the BSU includes about 8500 staff including about 3000 teaching staff and 500 research staff.
