Matej Bel University Opens the 2025/2026 Academic Year in the Renovated Beliana Auditorium
On September 17, 2025, Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica ceremoniously opened the new academic year 2025/2026 in the newly renovated Beliana Hall. During the ceremony, this modernized space was officially opened by MBU Rector Vladimír Hiadlovský and Michal Káčerík, Director General of the Department of Strategic Development and Investment in Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
The grand opening reflected not only the academic tradition but also the university's vision for further development. Speeches were given by the rector, the mayor of Banská Bystrica, and the chairman of the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region. In their words, they expressed strong support for education, research, and the social responsibility of the university.
The event also included a cultural program featuring the university's artistic ensembles – the Mladosť university choir, the Mladosť university chamber orchestra, and the Mladosť university folk ensemble. Their performances combined music, dance, and visual arts, creating a powerful and emotionally resonant experience.
The grand opening in the newly established Beliana Auditorium symbolically opened not only a new academic year, but also a new chapter in the life of the university – characterized by modernization, cooperation, and a vibrant cultural identity.
