UBU and UMB sign an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation
The rector of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica and three of his vice-rectors visited University of Burgos on 25th and 26th May 2022. Both universities are members of EMERGE European University Alliance.
UBU and UMB signed a cooperation agreement setting up a framework for enhancing their mutual scientific, technologic and cultural collaboration. Universities committed to promote joint teaching activities and they proposed a preliminary schedule of academic exchange.
Manuel Pérez Mateos, Rector of UBU, and Vladimír Hiadlovský, Rector of UMB, accompanied by members of their respective directing teams, expressed a wish not only to better manage tasks under their co-responsibility within EMERGE but also to extend bilateral joint activities beyond the EMERGE consortium.
According to Rector Pérez Mateos signing the contract „will establish a new form of confirmation of the future growth which UBU has been experiencing for some time now thanks to the process of internationalization. We are convinced that our support for the European alliance EMERGE will mark a crucial point for our institution. It might also reinforce our coalitions with universities very similar to what we are in terms of numbers of students, research centers and strategic objectives, always with the aim to integrate a new system of European Universities.“
„For us, University of Burgos is an example of how to develop the complex paradigm of knowledge transfer from the academic to the non-academic environment. We would like to implement a similar model,“ said UMB Rector Vladimír Hiadlovský.
The Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation of UBU Ileana Greca Dufranc hopes that this meeting will be a step forward in intensifying interinstitutional relations. „We have already submitted a Horizon project together and we hope to continue under Erasmus+ also, as UMB has got an important offer in Ensligh, especially in Pedagogy, Natural Sciences and Economics.“
After the initial meeting with UBU Governing Board members, UMB rector and vicerectors in charge of development, research and international relations participated in a series of encounters dedicated to presentations of UBU research groups and lifelong learning activities. They also visited UBU´s Estación de la Ciencia y la Tecnologia, a space dedicated to dissemination and promotion of science.
