Matej Bel University Lifelong Learning Centre
(in Slovak abbreviated as CCV UMB)is an integral part of Matej Bel University, Banská Bystrica.

It was founded in accordance with the all-society trend and all-society requirements concerning every individual member of the current society. The purpose of the UMB Centre is to provide such a system of lifelong learning that would appeal to the highest possible number of citizens of different ages, professions, interest, social segments and groups.
The main objective is provision of education, satisfying the needs of the clients and their better competitiveness and employability.
Organization parts of the CCV UMB are:
1. The Methodical Centre UMB for the Slovaks Living Abroad and Foreign Students,
2. Third-Age University
3. The Department for Secondary Post-graduate and University Post-graduate Studies.
UMB Lifelong Learning Centre also offers a specialized education in the accredited long-term and short-term study programmes and courses:
− specialized study of law – Business Law,
− specialized study of law – Administrative Law,
− Law in Human Resources,
− Application of Controlling in the Public Administration,
− University Pedagogy course,
− Comprehensive Computer Skills – ECDL,
− training programmes according to demand of the public, oriented at communication, managerial and personal skills, personal and career
development, marketing skills and customer satisfaction
CCV UMB organizes support courses for the distant study in cooperation with the respective UMB Faculties:
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: Pedagogy,
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: Practical Preparation Teacher Training,
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: 1st Grade Elementary School Teacher Training,
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: Social Work,
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: Corporate Economy and Management,
− support courses for the distant study in the fi eld of: Management and Marketing.
The UMB Centre offers education in modern premises equipped with multimedia technology.
As for other activities, the CCV UMB cooperates with the UMB Faculties in organization of distant study and support courses.
Another important activity of the CCV UMB is cooperation with the lifelong learning centres and institutions in the Slovak Republic

The UMB Centre develops this cooperation mainly in order to share experience with lifelong learning, creation and submitting of the grant and project proposals (ESF, JPD, EQUAL), promotion of the lifelong learning activities, enforcement of common interests in the lifelong learning legislation etc. The UMB Centre in Banská Bystrica is a member of the Adult Education Institutions Association (in Slovak abbreviated as AIVD) and Further University Education Association in the SR (in Slovak abbreviated as ADUV).
