EDUCATION PROGRAMME OFFER
by the MBU Methodological Centre for Slovaks Living Abroad
MBU Methodological Centre for Slovaks Living Abroad was founded on January 1st 1993.
The mission of the only university centre of lifelong learning in the SR, Methodical Centre of Matej Bel University (thereinafter MC UMB) for the Slovaks Living Abroad and Foreign Students has been, for 15 years of its existence, training teachers and students of all types and degrees of schools of Slovak minorities abroad, journalists of compatriotic periodics, culture workers, Slovak self-government offi cials abroad teachers of Slovak language, as well as foreigners interested in Slovak language, literature, culture or opportunities to study at universities in Slovakia.
All UMB Faculties, culture and education institutions with all-Slovakia sphere of action participate in the courses.
MC UMB offers the accredited:
− short-term (2-week) Slovak language courses for the compatriotic teachers at different degrees and types of schools (pre-schools, 1st degree of elementary schools, 2nd degree of elementary schools and secondary schools),
− 4-week Summer Course of Slovak Language and Culture for Compatriots,
− 4-8-week intensive language courses in the framework of the European projects, e.g. Socrates/Erasmus,
− 1-semester middle-term course for Slovakists and foreign doctoral students,
− 2-semester long-term course for the students interested in university study in the SR.
MC UMB for Slovaks Living Abroad cooperates with all compatriot clubs and associations in the world through the World Association of the Slovaks. It is the member of the Committee for the Compatriots Education at the Offi ce for Slovaks Living Abroad (the Slovak Republic Government Offi ce), and cooperates with the the Slovak Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Slovak Foundation.
